Lake George Wildfire Burning Out Of Control

Yesterday, crews effectively prevented the fire from spreading further, notwithstanding adverse dry and windy conditions, and will strive to repeat this success today in protecting residences and other infrastructure.
Fire intensity has increased significantly in the late afternoons over the past several days.
Resources today include 28 DNR, 39 BC and 31 local firefighters, 2 Newfoundland and 4 NWT planes, 1 DNR and 5 contracted helicopters, and 18 pieces of heavy equipment.
Over the weekend, social media updates will be posted if there is a critical new development to report, such as a change in the estimated size of the fire. Daily posts will resume around midday on Monday.
Nova Scotia remains under a burn ban. A woods closure is still in place for Annapolis County. Today, the fire weather index was Extreme in Annapolis County. Very High levels were recorded in Lunenburg, Queens, Shelburne, Yarmouth, Digby, and Kings Counties, while high levels were seen in Hants, Halifax, Colchester, Cumberland, and Pictou Counties.
